|
The
Range Control Section provides range/training area, medical evacuation
(MEDEVAC) control, rotary wing aircraft coordination in support of
ground operations, and a means of passing and receiving essential
information to all commands engaged in training with-in the designated
boundaries of MWTC. Control of training activities aboard MWTC is
accomplished through a combination of radio coordination with the range
control facility and through range inspectors.

| Range Safety |

The Range Safety Section enforces safety and
inspection standards/regulations on all ranges and training areas. In
the event that a safety violation is discovered, the Range Safety
Inspector imposes an immediate cease fire, if necessary, and directs
required corrective action. Each Range Inspector serves as a direct
representative of the Director, Operations and Training for control of
the entire MWTC designated training area.

Range Safety Certification
The Level 1 Range Safety
Course is a requirement for organizations desiring to conduct live fire
aboard the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center MCMWTC). All
organizations must produce level 1 certificates and a weapons
certification letter for their personnel becoming MCMWTC Range OICs and
RSOs. This class can be found using the
Marine.Net Search Tool. Course Number: CI060120CA.
Organizations, such as the Army, Navy, Air Force, foreign services or
civilian agencies, such as the FBI, that don't have access to the
MarineNet website, the MCMWTC Range Control Facility can teach the Level
1 Range Safety Course.
In addition to the Level 1 Range Safety Course, all personnel must
attend and pass the local MCMWTC Range Safety Course.
MWTC has 10 live fire small arms ranges and 3 avalanche initiation
sites. Call Range Control for detailed information

| Range Scheduling |

The Range
Scheduling Section provides a single scheduling authority for all MWTC
ground controlled training areas, and ranges “ONLY” after coordination
as been completed with MWTC S-3. Aircraft utilization is coordinated
with the MWTC Air Officer.
All Range
and Training Area Scheduling is conducted through the Range Facilities
Management Support System (RFMSS) and must be submitted a minimum of
seven working days prior to the first day of use.

Radio Support:
|
|
For all units
that do not possess standard military radio equipment, the
Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center Range Control
Facility has a minimal amount of communications equipment.
Therefore, in order to support as many training activities as
possible, the Range Control Facility must issue communications
equipment by reservation. RCF Communications equipment
reservations must be made at the time of your RFMSS range and
training area requests. The Range Control Facility will not
accept e-mail requests or phone requests for communications
support. This form must be completed, and a signature is
required. Please complete the form and fax to: (760)932-1686.
Upon processing your request/reservation form, you will receive
a confirmation e-mail, indicating your request for
communications equipment has been processed. MCMWTC S-6 is
capable of supporting larger requests for communications
support.
